looks to me like he painted the bird and the 'trans am' lettering in the filler panel to match the car

That's what I was thinking, I just couldn't tell if that was the part he was referring to or if that was just a blue sticker and he was talking about something else.

yupe, the old red bird and letters were fading so i bought me some now ones to use as an outline, I sanded off the letters and the bird, preped it painted it NBM then laid down the bird and letters then painted black over it then peeled the bird/letters to reveal the NBM bird and letters then cleared it
