i have ran across a good local deal on a brand new never used Burkart Chassis Fabbed 9" with 40 spline axles, spool, aluminum center, anti roll etc...

i drive my car on the street as much as i track it. occasionally i take it to the beach which is about 3 1/2 - 4 hrs away. i know this rear may be a little bit overboard for my application but the deal is really good.

is this a streetable rear or a track only? is it possible i will run into problems with using the rear the way i want to?

any feedback is appreciated thanks.

I wouldn't see why you would run into any problems, if your up to driving around with a Spool. other than that it should be just fine.

which anti roll bar? might have to unhook one side for the street.

The spool and the aluminum case aren't the best for street driving. If it's a great deal, then just sell the current center section and swap in another.

I'd say the aluminum case would be fine, but the spool would be up to the person. I would say a spool would not be streetable IMO.

yeah the spool isnt really street friendly so to speak but it can work decent, ive heard the the aluminum case just makes more noise when it gets warmed up

You can drive a spool on the steet. You wont have a good turning radius And when its wet out, well you can rear steer really good. And can lead to a broken axle, increase tire wear. A locker would be better for the street/strip.

lockers are IMO WORSE for the street, the unpredictablity of it is just not my cup of tea. on ramps are a bitch. not to mention it sounds like a rock tumbler.

spool > locker.

you do wear out bearings, and tires more though.

a spool makes both rear wheels turn at the same right all the time even while turning so most people say its a pain to drive on the street and it wears out tires faster too but works really good when it comes to race applications.

My aluminum case is doing fine, not experienced with spools but the with the aluminum you should be good.

i have a spool on my dd ws6 and hate it(sound like the hole drivetrain is going to fall out on slow turns). Going to take it out and put a posi but I still don't know what to put on.

I drive mine with a spool and 35 spline axle's,1/2 wheel studs and a drag rear swaybar. With the 17" street tires it is horible but with the 325/50/15 drag radials it isn't bad at all but they wore out real fast. It says it has 40 spline axle's and they probably have 5/8 wheel studs that won't work to good
with street wheels. And if the center section has gears they are probably
large pinion 35 spline progears that can't be driven on the street very long
because they are soft. I just can't see the need to run 40 spline axle's and then run street gears. You could sell the center section and the axle's for A
good price and buy A streetable setup with the money and still have some money left over and just use the housing. this is just my 2cents. Good luck
