Default help getting started with tuning

havent finished the car yet, but i want to get some info to read up on and look at. first off this will be a ls1 into a 96 firebird with a 400 turbo tranny. this will be a race motor only with only street time will be the 25 mile cruise at the tracks. 383 with a solid roller cam, set of 853 heads been worked over at s.a.m. was told a 99 up harness & computer would be best, then send to speartech to have it converted to work with the 96 bird under dash harness. this is the list of: and i want to leave out everything i can that doesnt need to be on the motor. air. egr. a/c. ect. ect. ENGINE MANAGEMENT:

· No Laptops or datalogging equipment in car during race

· Speed Density permitted for all combinations

· OEM Engine control computer MUST be functional

· Plug In chips and EEC computer Add ons permitted for FORD EEC IV or FORD EEC V ONLY

· EFI Add ons: If your computer is not on the list it is prohibited

· FRPP Extender

· FRPP EPEC

· Anderson FORD PMS

· Autologic Plug In EEC Chip

· SuperChips Plug in EEC Chip

· HyperChip Plug In EEC Chip

· Diablo Plug In EEC Chip

· EEC Tuner

· SCT XCalibrator & XCAL2

· Diablo Predator

sounds like you are building a car for vengence outlaw or LSx shootout.
either way on raceday its run what ya brung.
get a pro tune or get brand x,y, or z software.
there are alot of stickys in this section with alot of good reading.

yes building a car for the vengence true street class. what would be the easiest setup for someone to start with. i would send the computer off to get a tune installed on it, but where would i go from there.
