Default TR 224 vs. smaller Comp stick with 1.8's what do you think?

A buddy was able to score the following setup for me for next to nothing javascript:void(0)
Big Grin
- Comp 216/220 114 LSA .530/.530 cam
- Comp 1.8 Roller Rockers (kit with studs, pushrods, guideplates)
- Comp titanium retainers
- Comp springs (I don't have p/n handy)

Would I make more power with the above setup or with just a TR 224/224 114 LSA .560" lift (with the right springs and stock rockers)? My car is a '99 Z with Hooker LT's, TCI 3500, Whisper Lid, dumps & STOCK heads. Goal for now is to get to the 11's n/a (will probably have to do heads one day).

I ask because I know the $$ value of that Comp setup I have (all the stuff is brand spankin' new), and may come out way ahead dollar wise going with just a simple cam & spring swap. If overall power will be damn near the same it's not worth trying to trade out/sell.

Whaddya think?

I'm a dope- the cam and rockers are both Crane, not Comp- not that it's a real bid difference.

(Plus I couldn't get that smile thingy to work).

The spring info. is very important to get a good opinion. With that rocker the lift will be close to the TR224, so hopefully they are 918's or compatible. There are more factors to consider as in ramp speed and valve train stability when changing rocker ratios. I would go with what is proven instead of guessing/hoping to "invent the wheel"....my .02.

The springs Crane gave/reccomended are:
p/n 99845 single valve springs
1.255 OD X .870 ID, seat pressure: 124lbs@1.750", 374lbs @ 1.150", coil bind @ 1.100, rate 409 lbs/in, max net lift with .060 clearance: .640.

Why not just get a cam with higher lift? Perhaps you can get more radical lobes as well. That is a whole lot cheaper than going with rockers (assuming you have good springs in either case).

just my opinion. Good luck!

I may want to go with a more aggressive cam -that's why I'm asking. I already have all the stuff listed, and it cost me less than just a cam and springs would cost.
