Default REAR End question

what does 4 channel and 3 channel mean? did they come on certain cars? the reason im asking is because im buying a 10 bold rear end and wondering if it mattered

Please explain to me
any info is good

It does matter. A 3 channel rearend is setup just for ABS (Anti-Lock Brakes). It's easy to tell a 3 channel because the ABS sensor is sitting on top of the pumpkin and is reading a toothed ring attached to the ring gear. A 4 channel rear includes ABS and TCS (Traction Control). There is a sensor at each end of the axles (but not on top of the pumpkin) and a toothed ring is pressed on next to the bearings of each axle for the sensor to read. If your car came with TCS, you should find a rearend that has the 4 channel setup so your cars computer doesnt freak out.
