General Maintenance & Repairs - 02 z28 cranks wont fire sometimes?!?!

So I woke up this morn. and I figured Id drive the z it as on E for fuel and the "check gauges" light was on but I thought Id drive it anyway cause work is 5 miles away and I could fuel up at lunch. So I get to work and park it, when I get ready to start it at lunch to fuel up it would only crank and wouldnt fire I had to prime it a few time by turning key on and off. I figured it was just low so I went and put gas in it. I put 3/4 tank in it. My friend showed up with his z28 we raced and when I parked it for 20 mins and tryed to start it did the same thing cranks wouldnt fire had to again prime it. When its warm it starts up fine when it sits for 20 + mins it has the problem. Ive never ran it that low before, maybe the fuel pump is getting ready to take a dump??? you can hear it priming on start up though... it has 56,000 on it any input would be great....:bang:

and the service was just done about 2 months ago done oil change, fuel filter etc

running it that low usually causes dirt to clog the fuel pump sock

that would def. cause a problem with having to prime it a few times to get it to start

but i dont see how that would be a problem only after it sits for a few minutes

the only thing you can do really is let it sit for a few days to make sure the pressure is relieved from the system, and prime the fuel pump, and get some rags and press on the schrader valve to see if any fuel squirts out, if it does, i would think the problem is elsewhere.. when you do have the problem, get a timing light to see if you are getting spark when the engine is cranking, usually loss of spark from heat soak is a reason for it not starting

it runs good other wise no missing sputtering nothhing

I would do a cold soak fuel pressure & volume test on it to be sure all is OK w/ the pump.
