What cam for me?
So the trans decided to go today so ive decided to pull both engine and trans. I have to fix and oil leak anyways.
ok now for mods. I dont plan on doing anything drastic to the car. basically I want to have a full bolt on cam only car but also want to get the most usable power out of the stock heads and bottom end I can. Also need help with what rocker, springs, lifters, PR's and ect to run. Also I want to be able to jump in the car and drive it when I want however I do have another car I could drive if need be.
Im planning to run around a 3500 stall converter. all this will happen within the next few months. Thanks alot for the help guys!

my engine has 128K on it. I dont want to rev to high. maybe 6200
I think the cam will be the last thing I buy for the cam swap.
Anyone have suggestions on timing chain, rocker, lifters, valve springs, ect? Ive looked at the comp cam behive spring kit for 254 on ebay. Anyone know about what length PR's i would need. 7.2's?
also on the rockers there are some 1.6 RR's 3/8 stud self aligning mad by proform. Anyone run these?

Your pushrod length is going to vary depending on your lifters and a few other things. I suggest buying those last, and buying a pushrod length checker to be sure you get the right ones.

You can get the Crane Spring kit that will come with locks and retainers for about $180 on Summit. As far as the Proforms, I've heard alot of bad things - I even remember one person saying he wouldn't put them in his lawnmower.

ive been reading more and more on here. I think Im going to get some LS7 lifters. Im not sure on NSA or SA rockers. What one clear stock valve cover and which dont? anyone have any input on this. I hate going through 100 threads and find just one that has any good info.

I'd recommend these for the springs. https://www.patriot-performance.com/...&cat=52&page=2. A little bit more pricey than the Cranes. But, last time I checked, the Cranes are on backorder everywhere and are nearly impossible to get. Plus, the Patriot's can handle more lift, and come with titanium retainers, instead of steel, and valve stem seals.

When I was looking for good, but cheap rockers, alot of people pointed me in the direction of Scorpion Roller Rockers. I was able to get a set, brand new, for around $200 and they look VERY nice.
There is some guy on Ebay that sells them at the best price I could find online.

Check out Lingenfelter too...I still think the LPE 211/219 .533/.560" is a great choice...They also have the dual springs/retainers on sale...These are the same springs and titanium retainers I've been running for 13plus years! Its definitely worth a phone call to them...260-724-2552...

SA will clear the stock valve covers most of the time - but even if you have to modify them, it seems pretty easy.

Rather then just buying the CC503 I would just have Lloyd grind you one up. You should see better gains with his as well. Keep in mind some of the specs on here are old and have been re-worked. Call him up and he will help you figure out a good way to go.

ok so I have comp magnum 1.6 SA roller tip rockers and LS7 lifters on the way.
for spring Im going with the patriots. Looking at lloyd elliott 228/235 cam. I dont have emissions here and it says its the non emissions cam of the 224/230. Would I be ok running the 228/235 cam with the 1.6's? it will put the lift close to 600 and with the duration im a lil iffy.
also how will i check what length i will need with the pushrod checker?
