Default Need .054" head gaskets for 408.

Hey everyone, I am looking for a head gasket that is about .054" thick. Thunder lists cometics on their web site with 4.190 bore, .054 but I think its a misprint. They are not listed on cometics web site. I believe someone found one in a Fel-pro mls but I cant seem to find it. Thanks for the help.

Won't factory MLS head gaskets work? The LS1 gasket is that thick. Check to see if the LS3 or LS7 has the bore diameter you need. The thickness should be fine. I wouldn't waste money on the Cometics if I didn't have to. GM head gaskets have worked perfectly for me.

Oh, and I'd stay away from the Felpros! I've read some threads in which they failed. Why risk it!

Thanks guys, I forgot that the factory gaskets were that thickness. Does anyone know the bore diameter? I think people have used factory LS2 gaskets for 408 motors.

What is the part number of the gasket you measured?

Does anyone know the specs for the L92 gasket? I believe it has a bigger bore. Are all GM MLS gaskets the same thickness?
I was searching this and came across a post where someone said AFR heads require a gasket bore of 4.190. I have never heard of this, but I was curious if this applies to my TFS heads.
Someone should make a sticky of all the factory head gasket specs...

AFR recommends to use a gasket with a minimum of 4.125 bore.

AFR 225cc heads need a gasket bore size of at least 4.135. I used felpro #1162 nice gaskets but $170 for a pair.

Measure the width of the combustion chamber on the head and the bore diameter of the block. Then, pick a gasket with a bore diameter larger than both measurements and the thickness your looking for.

Quick Reply: Need .054" head gaskets for 408.
