Default 383 stroker from lt1

I'm about to buy a 383 stroker kit. My question is do I still need a rebuild kit or does the stroker kit do the same thing? i'm not mechanically inclined what-so-ever. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Also what tranny would be the best match up for my motor.

Well, a stroker kit has the rotating assemblies, but you still need gaskets and oil pump ect.

"stroker" means almost nothing, lots have been built hat are weaker than a well modified stock engine and some are built to be better and some of those are actually reliable.

From your questions the best advise you can be given is spend a year or two developing an understandin before you start buying things.

The whole car needs a lot of modifcation first and the extra displacement is NOT how power is made which is likely what you are assuming.

The stock transmission can handle the power if prepared properly. Beyond that I can't tell you much since you did not even tell us whether you have an automatic or a manual, either can work though.
