Default Goodbye blackouts...hello VHT

This four day weekend really freed me up to work on some much needed appearance upgrades. Ditched the blackouts and went w/ VHT on the tails as well as the third brake light which really needed it!

Before w/ RED third light and blackout covers, and a crooked tip LOL.

After VHT on tails and 3rd light, and a STRAIGHT tip!! Pass side tail isn't dull BTW, lighting in the pic makes it seem that way. They both shine to perfection!!

Looks better for sure.

For kicks I checked around and I couldn't find VHT in stock anywhere nobody here sells it. Probably for the better so I don't buy any when I should use the money for something else.

^I know your pain. My tuner lost a driver side cover when he was doing some datalogging, so I had to spend another $40 to buy some new ones. That was my last straw, so I bought some better tails as my drivers side one was horribly faded, and layed down the nightshades. Couldn't be happier.

I would like to know which process you went with as well. I'm looking into doing this as well.

...and I guess i'm the only one but I like the first pic the beest minus the 3rd light.

It's three LIGHT coats. VHT is so thick, I was spraying nearly 1ft. + away. Wet sanded between each coat w/ 1500 & 2000 grit, and finished off w/ two coats clear, and Mothers Plastics polish.

Third light there's same amount.

Looks great!! I have a post up too cause I just finished mine! Yours look a little more shinny than mine... I love how mine turned out....I just want them more shinny. I used 3-4 coats of clear. Im Guna try that plastic polish like you used to see how they end up..Thanks....

^If that doesn't shine them up, get a buffer. Then they'll definitely shine. I know PontiacFan has polished up a few sets of tails, if you need to get ahold of him and ask him to buff them.

They're Mechams.
What kind of clear coat did you use? And where did you buy it?
