Cost money to bring a product on line. Even one that is already built in Austrialia. Perhaps you didn't hear GM is broken and broke.

Everyone here has said GM has too many vehicles..... Yet no one wants to see one they like get axed.:D

Yet Cadillac gets a new little SUV in a market that abandoned SUVS. Hmmm.

I'd rather have seen them cut down the pontiac line to G8, G8 ST and the solstice and maybe the G5....get rid of everything else

like said above, there is fat to trim in chevy, GMC, caddy etc as well, but they got rid of what I was wanting as a cool tow vehicle...pisses me off.

Didn't really think it would be a big hit.

Although I don't like it, I think dropping the ST was the right move for GM. Summerwolf is right, there are plenty of other worthless vechicles in the GM lineup which could be axed. For starters, the Grand Prix is worthless.

I liked it, hell I would of bought one. But I'm not surprised. I knew it would never make it state side.

I'm actually glad they didn't bring it....after all this is 2009 not 1983. The ST wasn't purposeful at all. I do hope they'll bring the wagon though. It has seating for 5 and just as much cargo space as the ST would have had.

The ST could have towed the goat and thats all I wanted it for....a fun dd with a little bit of towing capability and a little bit of style.

I'm actually pissed, this was going to be my next NEW vehicle purchase.....

I don't see why GM needs the bonneville, Grand prix, and all the subsequent models...they're the same damn car.

The vibe? The G5, G6 etc....there is just so many cars that are just a spin off of another model in the GM lineup its sickening....Trim those so we can have cool vehicles like the ST. Oh well, most people like common and boring, not slightly unusual and halfway practical. Hell if the SSR had been about 10K cheaper that would have been a dream....I'm going to have to look at used SSR's now to tow my goat....whatever.

I have big doubts that the new SRX will sell any better than the old one, which hardly sold at all.

They are unofficially citing the bailout and Congressional focus on the products from the company as the reason why they aren't going ahead with it.

Stupid yes, but not as stupid as not producing a new Firebird. That's what everyone really wanted and the brand really needed.

at least GM is making some decisions that make sense now

Agreed, Also proven with the SSR, even a dumbed down, lower costing Pickup Car is pointless. If given a poll, you will see a great percentage like the idea and claim they would buy if sold but $$$ to doughnut most wouldnt lay down the cash OR not in a position to BUY, EVER!!

They already sunk a lot of money into importing the G8 sedan. The Ute (G8 ST) is identical to the sedan and so is the Sportwagon. Both of them should have been imported as well to help recoup the costs for the new fascia and federalization.

15,000 sales since March and already rebates on the hood. The G8 program is shaping up to be another expensive Pontibomb.

I liked the car/truck thought it was cool and everything, but to me doesnt make much sense at that price. For 30k you could buy a pretty nice truck or ss camaro. Why pay so much for a half truck or mediocre performance car? I mean you can only fit two people in it. Just doesnt seem to make much sense, not that i dont like the car.

Although I don't like it, I think dropping the ST was the right move for GM.Yeah, I too was really looking forward to seeing those things on the road and even considered buying one for a brief second once they came out but if this move helps GM survive in the long run than I too have to support it.

I'm just glad that the G8 GXP actually made it through.

Well, if GM decides to axe Pontiac, then I will have a collector's item with the GTO.

keep thinking that...if you have a 64-70 GTO then you would have a collectors item...people still wont care about the new ones

I don't care if they already sunk money into the platform the truck version WOULD NOT SELL. That would just mean more inventory sitting on the lots.

Can't say that I'm too terribly surprised. Let's see: it's a vehicle that makes sense, one that I was looking forward to and one that I would have definitely purchased (I would have probably bought one for my father too) so of course it's going to be the first to go. I've come to expect this kind of logic from today's auto industry.

Belive it or not the HHR is popular with fleets, you can put on large banners as a company car to promote your products.

I guess i'll have to go back to looking for a 65 elky to stick a LS motor in.
Damn u GM f-k heads. I agree that GM has way to many models in their line-up, but they need to get rid of the ones that are exactly the same as 3 or 4 other models they already have. And stop wasting money on stupid technology like the damn DOD thats in my trailblazer. I hate that crap.
Sorry just a little personal venting on GM.

What do you mean the G8 ST wouldn't be purposeful? Not everyone can afford both a sports car and a truck. I know someone like me could have used one. I have a dirtbike, with no way to transport it anywhere, unless I go with my cousin, and use his mom's minivan.

I know my Grand Prix isn't an awesome handling car, but I drive it like it is one. I'm just a college kid, and I have no desire for a truck, that I would only use in the summer to transport my dirtbike. With the G8 ST, you have a car that performs like the G8, with the diversity of serving as a small pickup at the same time.

GM knew it wouldn't be a big seller, only selling 5,000 to 7,000 units in a good market, if you read the article.

Nope, it wouldn't sell. I think El Camino's are ugly and redneck cruisers, the ST would just be a spiffier version.

It was just a bad idea from GM, it wouldn't sell, not that practical and really wouldn't fit into a car class.

I don't understand how some of you guys think these cars are are inpractical granted they are not as big as a pickup i thought there might of been a little bit of market for them there specially for someone that wants something similar but doesnt want to go a full size pickup..
However i do recon it looks better with Holden or HSV front end on them..
Maybe it's also a case of right car wrong time, in the current financial climate it's hard to bring any new product to a market..
