Cue the tax experts that say people who get any return are retards and just "giving the federal government an interest free loan".

I'll probably get some back and it will go towards my wife's last semester of her Master's degree program.

It has been a long time since I have had to mess with this much as I worked overseas for a few years and was 1099 before that.

Is there an approximate percentage that I should expect back from the gov't? The only deduction that I have is our house (taxes) as I can't claim my son. The ex gets him.

I get a return but pay taxes out the *** and only get back about 1/2 what a pay in....it sucks! What do i have to do to not give out a "free loan to the government"???

I just always claim 0.

I paid almost $12,000 state and federal and will see about $4500 to $5000...****** crazy!!!

Okay, imagine an amount that would probably rape you monetarily and that's it. I worked construction for a company that I had to do a 1099, and it was a lot more than I thought.
