Nice, the more I see the numbers of 408's and 402's I want one.
Btw wasn't your car a TT? If so why did you go back to N/A?

My car was F1C. I went back because I got tired of all the stupid corvette gremlins and I like to drive my car more than I like fixing it. N/A all the way man.

I thought you had more power before? What was your previous NA 408 combo and what was it making? I was waiting to see what your combo made with the TFS heads. I remember you having a diff set of heads and cam combo or am i just being retarded?

The other combo was around 450 or so I can't remember exact numbers. It was ETP 215 62cc heads with a GT11 cam. I had a set of -2cc pistons in there as well but they stuck out the block .100 so I had to stack gaskets. Didn't like that at all so I went ahead and put the boost pistons back in and ordered some new heads. Ron talked me into the other stuff like the cam, rockers, oil pump, and etc.

I am going to try and get some up this week. I just hope the camera can capture the sound and do it partial justice at least.

Sweet numbers! Off topic but, how do you like your coil overs? I am trying to get rid of this wheel hop so I can launch it from a stop.

I love them. Probably one of the best things I did to the car. I don't have any wheel hop problems with them.

Kevin, engine sounds like it's runnin' great. Hopefully you can lead me in the right direction with my 408 build;) i think within' a month or so i'm gonna pick up that 6.0 engine then start looking for a local place to bore it out;) Gotta start getting my parts aquired as well. I think if i do this i'm gonna go with the MS4 cam:D i always wanted to run that cam as it's HUGE. maybe a polluter, we'll see. I'd probably be better off with a custom grind instead of off the shelf. We'll see. Can't wait for the video;)

I too went from sc to na/402. I road race my car and the sc was just too much work. 402 seems just as fast, even though it has 90 less rwhp. I too just want to drive mine, tired of working on it. I am thinking I might should have done the MS4 instead of the MS3, but that might be a future mod.
Awesome numbers.

Thanks again everyone. Cole don't mess around with off the shelf cams man. Get one spec'd out for you and you will be much happier.

very good numbers iterested how the power is compared to the F1 meaning the feel in accleration
dixonk
01-11-2009, 05:40 AM
Well since the power is smaller I feel faster now. With the F1C it didn't feel as fast because it took so much more pedaling to try and get the tires to hook. It feels much better now.

Nice #'s. I also almost did that same, go from FI to a nice 402 or 408 on my FRC (until I got an offer on it an just sold the whole car)

Ya 700+ gets old on the street doesn't it?
Quik Z06
01-12-2009, 04:35 AM
Lol, actually not having traction get's old. I was running 335 Nitto DR's and I would blow them off at almost any speed. Our 02 Z has been stock or close almost it's whole life, so now were throwing a 100 shot at it, so it should be close to the 500 hp mark on bottle, IMO that is plenty.
dixonk
01-12-2009, 05:01 AM
Ya I was blowing away 315 MT drag radials as well. In my opinion anything past 550 to 600 on the street is useless.

Ive a question regarding your torque numbers. This is purely for my education and not to bash your build in any way. My question is comparing your build to the LG 402 thread, does your build make less torque due to the 225 heads vs his 205s?
dixonk
01-12-2009, 03:22 PM
I would imagine because of that combined with the fact I am using larger primaries, larger heads, and lower compression pistons. If I were to bump the pistons up in compression I would see a lot more torque. But I decided to use my old FI pistons again.
Ron@Vengeance
01-12-2009, 10:24 PM
Kevin your compression is a full point less than the LG 402.. If we could throw some flat tops in your shortblock your torque #s would be in a new ballpark.... Good news is your car will hook up better than the LG combo :)
Congats again. I love the "Chuck Norris" title :D :D

yeah kevin i love the Chuck norris cam name too. Ron, you should be naming it that from now on out:D

Yeah I didn't realize the c/r was that much lower, also my comments were only meant to educate myself.

Yeah, it's real. Look closely at the cam pic and you will see why specs are difficult to come by.
To find out the specs you first have to beat up on "Chuck". Hasn't happened yet, AFAIK.
You might search around for the Justin Timberlake Cam. It's also real and has been out there for quite a while. The "JT Cam" comes from the same source as the "CN Cam" and has it's own tag line: "Smaller than you think and unassuming but can F... anything it wants to." The car that it is in proves the tag line regularly.

Who the hell would name a cam the Justin Timberlake grind...:gtfo: Cams obviously make a lot more power if they have a really cool name.
Probably because Chuck Norris was taken a long time ago.

Well I didn't know Chuck Norris was taken already. I guess it will have to be Chuck Norris v2.0.
The Chuck Norris v2.0 - Don't just beat the competition...roundhouse kick them in the face!

I hear folks talking about the "flavor of the week" cams. You know like the new "Baskin Robbins" series of cams. 31 flavors and counting.
Personally I'd go for the B&J (Ben & Jerry) line:
The Cherry Garcia® cam for your '70's van with a built 383.
The Chunky Monkey® cam for a 502-572 BBC in a B-body Impy
The Half Baked® cam for anything built by *** [fill in the blanks]
The Phish Food® cam for an engine which can't decide what kind of car it's going into.
The old mind wanders...
