Default Turbo/Supercharger C5 Question

My Brother in law is modding his 01' C5. It has about 40K miles. Right now he is having a Vig 3400 stall and 3.73 gear installed. He also has a vararam intake.

He asked me if he should go with Heads/cam or a supercharger. I told him go with a turbo set up. The guy at the shop he takes his car said go with the supercharger because a turbo is un reliable.

This guy is at a reputible shop, but how is a turbo un-reliable? I work for ford and see super-duty's go 300K plus miles on a stock Turbo and these trucks are worked all day long. Is there any truth to this?

What would you guys recommend from the info above? I think the STS twin-turbo set up for these cars are bad *** and work very well. Would the gear and stall be too much for forced induction?

If you need any more info, let me know.

Turbo cars can be 100% reliable if done correctly. Most on this forum would shy away from STS, and reccomend a kit that is front mounted like TTI or APS.
