Pioneer CD Changer - Head unit?

Pioneer CD Changer - Head unit? Well, have had this CDX-P1280 changer sitting in my closet now for 4 years. 
and decided to go ahead and put it in the car today. Much to my dismay, my old DEH3400 doesn't have an IP-Bus socket on the back so I'm considering a few options. I'm thinking about upgrading to a different head unit but would like red buttons/display if at all possible to match my gauges, but it doesn't look like Pioneer offers anything in red anymore, so is it possible to use this CD changer with a different brand head unit? Anything else out there compatible or adapters available?
