Default ok so wtf???

so i had a few runs last night . the car was fine during and after the runs. wen i hit the freeway to head home i noticed my battery gauge was a little low. i said watever kept playin my music. then the red CHECK GAUGES light came on so i got suspicious. i look down and the battery gauge is now in the RED. so i turn my music off and unplugg the deck. it was ok for awhile. so i get to my exit and everything but the motor SHUTS OFF! the rps and speedometer. the lights. the gas, engine temp, and oil pressure guage shut off. so i drove about 4 miles from the freeway exit to my house and wen i pulled in the battery was DEAD. i waited a little while to try to start it again and nothing. so i had my brother come try to give me a jump this morning, and the car started right up! the car has more juice then ive ever seen on the battery and everything is fine? any ideas wat that could be?

Not immediately. It would stop when it overheat or runs out of juice in the battery.

Yep, check the belt/alternator. If you have an aftermarket sound system or plan to get one, now would be a good time to upgrade the alternator to a 200(ish) amp one. Do a search in the Stereo and Electronics section to find out what people are using...

Im about to buy a new alternator due to a loud bearing, you can get a delco from classic industries for about $100 with no warranty or you can get a duralast from Autozone for $140 with a lifetime warranty.

Sounds like an alternator problem to me

Alternator, but first check all power wires from battery to alternator. But if it just shut off after showing low amperage then yeah alternator is shot and is not producing energy when the engine is running and is making the car run off of the battery.

well every1 was right. it was my alternator. i went to go play basketball and my **** died on me in the middle of the street. EVERYTHING completely shut off. the most embarrassing **** ive ever been thru ahah. so luckly my homeboys were with me. we pushed my car to a loading zone, juiced it up enough to get to the nearest park. got there. left it and went to get a new alternator from autozone(lifetime warranty i believe) so we had to install an alternator in ****** 30 degree weather. mind u were all in shorts because we were supposed to hoop. but yea long story short. my baby is up and running!!!! someone said i might need a "capacitor" or something. i have a 15" sub and a HUGE am. i think its 2000+watts. but yea thanks for all ur help. i woulda responded earlier but ive been in a parking lot ALL day.
