Default do you got to remove the oil pan gasket to get the timing chain cover off?

Hi all,
well i'm going to to see where my oil leak is at, it's behind opti some where around the timing chain cover but sense i'm there i'm going to put a new chain on my old one has around 25,000-30,000 miles on it but might as well anyway can I get the cover off with the oil pan gasket still on, can I take off the front pan bolts just to get the timing chain cover off?

You can get the timing cover off without removing the oil pan gasket, but I HIGHLY recommend you loosen the oil pan bolts as it is VERY easy to tear the seal - something you definitely do not want to do. Chances are the leak is coming from the front main, as it seems to be a common problem.

I already got most of the stuff off. still got to get my opti off and then cover but the main seal is new 3000 miles and it is dry but the oil is on the botton of my opti and on the cover but around the main seal its clean?
I see a drip always on my steal cross over tube for the air pump

Could be any of the seals on the front cover really. They're easy to replace and very cheap.

Drop the front of the oil pan down to get the timing cover off. The pan seals to the cover, so the cover goes on first, pan last.

You will likely have to lossen all of the bolts except for the back two.
As mentioned above, it could be any of the seals in the timing cover, replace all of them.
I don't think 30k is enough to warrant a new chain replacement, but as other will tell you, if you feel so inclined to replace it, replace the whole timing set, not just the chain.
