Guys I need some advise on what H/C setup to go with on the Z. It's between LG and TSP. The LG setup will be the AFR 205's milled to 59cc and the G5X3 cam. TSP haven't quit made up my mind on what to go with. Any body running any of their h/c combo on a ZO6? I would like to make a least 450rwhp, will the stock injectors be enough? Going with the AFR set up is more $$$, will it be worth it? If I go with AFR's I will need to hold off on a fast intake and keep the LS6, can the stock intake get me to 450? Also what about the stock clutch will it hold up for a while?

You will make your power even with the ls6 intake in my opinion if you go g5x3 and afr 205's 59cc. Then when you get the ported FAST 92 you should see a good increase, possibly 20 rwhp or more in some cases. Are you aware you will probably have to flycut ?? Your stock injectors should come out for some SVO 30#, and your stock clutch is going to be crying as soon as you start getting on it. Have you had any issues with your clutch sticking to the floor yet ?? If so I'd suggest an adjustable Master Cylinder, it solved all my issues. Best of luck making power, but with the g5x3 you won't need luck.

I thought the heads were milled in a way to where you didn't have to flycut. I was thinking about replacing the clutch instead of getting the Fast 92 for now.How much HP are the stock injectors good for? I been looking at some dyno numbers on the G5X3 and I really like the rwtq its putting out.

You would have to call LG about having to flycut or not. I don't think you would have to. Your clutch will not last. My clutch doesn't slip but the slave took a crap with all the extra hp=heat. Defintely get the clutch nd all new hydraulics instead of an intake for now. The Ls6 will work till you can get a fast 90 or 92 intake. My stock injectors maxed out around 5800rpms with a MS4. The shop put in a set of 42# injectors. The stock ones are 28.8# injectors. With a set of heads I would say you should just get the 42# injectors.

You could try a set of stage 1 LS6 heads from Texas speed also. That or get you stock heads redone if you really can't afford expensive heads.

what are putting down with the MS4?

Get the injectors, you can find them slightly used on ls1tech for like $200 bucks. I would go G5X3 with the afrs. Then when you have the cash get the ported fast 92 for another 20whp. You could be at the 470whp mark no problem.

what are putting down with the MS4?

438rwhp and 386rwtq-mustang dyno
kooks 1 7/8" race headers, 3" x-pipe and no cats, stock ti, ported fast 90, stock Ls2 tb, vararam intake, 42# injectors, and pulley. Number's were with stock plugs, stock Ls2-now ported, and a sticking clutch.

I put in the new plugs and ported tb and could feel a SOTP differance.
Going to eventually get my stock heads redone, clutch, LGM big 3 cat back and hardened output shafts.

car runs damn good. Pulls like a raped ape. Wish I had more torque however when the heads and catback go on it will be alot better.
if you go over .600 lift you will need to get a set of dual valve springs .
btw you will need some sticky tires for damn sure. Nittos barely hook.

^ I see you still have the stock ti mufflers..

How much power do people normally see by swapping them out?? Do you know?

Go drive a cam'd car first to see how large of a cam you can tolerate. LGM is a proven package. If I could do it all over again I'd go w/ what my buddy Mike did and get the AFR205s w/ the G5-X1E cam. His car makes 450+ rwhp but literally drives like stock w/ some nice lope at idle. He doesn't get any low speed parking lot bucking that is inherent w/ larger cams. Most of us learn how to drive around it, but I for one couldn't throw the keys to my car to my mother w/o giving her a lesson in the car's quirks first.

Unless you're a hardcore drag racer I'd rather give up 30 horse on the high end for area under the curve and street manners.

None... do it for sound. 800 horse supercharged cars from ECS have shown aruond 5 horse gains from ditching the Tis... they flow very well and keep the drone down.

I'm putting my Tis back on this spring after 5 years of Stingers... I'm getting older :bang:

Ok well I was looking into it a little bit, and I found this : http://www.lgmotorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=342_278&products_id=1697

Gained like ~10RWHP and a ton of torque..

See the video at the bottom..

That is the LGM big 3 I am talking about. Gain hp and tq plus not overly loud. Not sure on the weight tho. The stock ti is very very light.

My buddies have had the g5x3 cam in their T/a's and they drove them without problems. My car has pretty good street manner's. Only bucks going really slow in first gear, push the clutch in or give a little gas. Car still gets 30mpg on the highway. The only thing that I had to change was driving anything less than 60 I use 5th gear instead of 6th. A lot as to do with the tune.

Seen more than a few people say that want to get a bigger cam after they got a smaller cam.

Depends what he wants to do. $$$$$$ has a lot to do with it.

The c5 zo6 test car that was cam only (g5x3) picked up 14 rwhp 19 rwtq when it dropped the Ti's for the LGM Big 3. Nice trade in my opinion.

that sold me. Especially when they put the two catback's next to each other. I was like

he didn't say but wonder if that car has cats on it?

So what's the difference between the g5 and g6 cams??

So what's the difference between the g5 and g6 cams??

G5 was aimed at the 5.7 ls1 group
G6 was aimed at the 6.0 ls2 group and 6.2 ls3 group I believe.

So if you plan on changing the heads + cam on the z06, the 02-04 would have no advantage over the 01??

The reason they made more power was because the head + cam right? If you change them anyway it wouldn't matter, right??

Cobra4B

Correct... My yellow car is an '01... the only difference left in it is the actual valves in the head. The '02+ cars got sodium filled intake valves (or was it exhaust valves). Other than that everything has been modded out.

I agree, if you swap your heads and cam then the 01 vs 02-04 c5 z's are all the same when modded the same. I'd strongly suggest you get the 2.02 intake valves 1.60 exhaust valves. They really helped my afr 205's shine.

I was told that the pistons on the 01 are a little heavier the 02-04 thus giving 5hp less with the same mods.
