Well, I got my Edelbrock coil pack covers on Monday, and got some time last night to do some test fitting. According to Edelbrock's website, they say they aren't for stock vehicles and noone knew exactly what that meant.

Well, I test fitted the driver's side first and see problem #1. The stock fuel rails are too low, and the coil pack cover is hitting the line going into the rails. There are two options, one, go to custom fuel rails, or bend the factory rail to get it to fit.


I am going to look into swapping out the fuel rails as the factory ones look weak and messy. Some nice steel braided fuel line would look better as well compared to the rubber hoses.



I really like the look of the 'as cast' finish, but I'm going to be painting the FAST intake, so I'll do the coil pack covers as well in some sort of theme.

If I get some time, I'll pull the passenger side and see what needs to be done over there. Hopefully nothing, but I'll update this thread when I do.

I agree it looks big but that's because it's not sitting flush like it will when the fuel rail clearance issue is resolved.
They don't look that big in this picture... maybe it's the angle...?

Are the covers metal or plastic? Would be nice if they're metal just to be able to smooth out the edelbrock and lines if you wanted a smooth cover.

They most certainly are metal, cast aluminum to be specific. I had the same thought as you, but I'm not sure now how I would want to finish them.

If you take the fuel line off you should be able to take two pair of pliers or visegrips or whatever and bend that nipple just enough to clear. But dont try to bend it with that line on or you could break the plastic clip that holds it on inside.

As for the covers....well they just arent my thing. Maybe when you get them painted they will look better.

who was that one guy on here who made a custom set? they look like those. btw, how do those bolt on? or what do they bolt on to? they add a nice touch to the engine, and looks good hiding all those ugly wires and crap

The coils actually bolt to the backside of the covers, and then the covers bolt to the valve cover in the same spots that the coil pack rails bolted to.

Jegs and Summit list the as cast for ~$180, but I know one of the sponsors on here was talking about ~$155 for the as cast set.
Not bad considering the plastic fuel rail covers go for nearly the same.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try bending it at first. I'll pull the rails, empty them of gasoline, and then heat it slightly so as not to crimp the line. If that doesn't work, it's new fuel rails.

As for the appearance, it's not going to be for everyone for sure. Just like fuel rail covers, it's a love or hate thing. I never like the plastic look of the fuel rail covers and they look like they are just hanging there. Not my cup of tea, hence why I like these. They are a mix between a fuel rail cover and the set of ones from Abear (I think it was them).

Granted, there you had to buy valve covers and the covers, which was an expensive option for just an appearance mod.

I may just do that. I've been working on finishing up my basement and put in a shop down there. I may make it a winter project and sand these perfectly smooth, who knows, I haven't made up my mind yet.

I was thinking more about it and I think it may work better to take the fuel line off and take a punch and slide it in the end and use it to bend it up (holding it at the base with vise grips to give it a bending point.) You only need a slight bend it looks like...so that should work and not crimp anything.

I don't think these are going to raise the heat in the coils enough to cause any kind of issue. I'm not worried about it.

I know, I'd love to work on these, but time during the week is tough with two kids under the age of two. By the time I get some time, it's 8:30 and currently it's so cold outside that I've got to keep the daily driver in the garage, which means the t/a is on the lift.

Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to get some more progress to report.
