my lt1 vs. 04 Mach 1
I have a 95 Camaro z28 with lt1 and auto, mods are Moroso CAI, no cat 3 inch pipe into a magnaflow muffler, and 3.42 gears, car is full weight plus stereo system.
My friend has 04 Mach 1 4.6 dohc with five speed, slp exhaust and 3.73 gears.
We went out to a quarter mile bridge basically the straightest flatterst place around here to race without much traffic at all. First race we lined up at the bridge and went on the third honk. I got a jump off of the line by about 2 cars with some tire spin in first and chirping second, when my car hit third gear the mach began making up ground and we finished the race with him about a car behind.
He wanted another go so we lined up the same and when we left I again jumped on him from the begining and pulled pretty good but my car has a problem with not shifting from second to third correctly and it bounced off the rev limiter about 3 times before shifting allowing him to catch up and I lost by about half a car. There it is tell me what you all think.

i say your friend cant drive.
i was beaten in my 93 and i had about the same mods. no cai or magna flow but i did have headers and a k&n with 3.73's.
he should have taken you by about a car or two.

I'm being honest here LT-1< Mach. Mod for mod he should of had you by a couple. Unless of course his car was running like **** as you said. He could also have the "head up ***" drivers mod also.
He must not be to bright spending 400-500 switching from the stock 3.55's to 3.73's almost no difference. Now 4.10's or 4.30's on a M5 Mach really wake them up.

Yeah he had already owned it for a few months and it started dying at stop lights and such so he dropped it off at the local ford dealer they claimed to not find anything wrong with it but said they could have a tech drive it for a couple days and basically do a field test. So this guy has it and on the first day he spins it out at about 70 and takes out the fence between the highway and service road right in the middle of town. People call my buddy and say they seen him wreck his car and he tells them the dealership has it cause they are fixing it. So he calls the dealership and they tell him its fine, no one wrecked it but he cant see it. So the next day they fess up and tell him the truth and from what all he got out of it I dont really know. It was pretty big mess though.

In a 'normal' race.....you shouldn't ahve a chance agains him.
Given the car may not be running right?.....could be possible.
Also, machs aren't the easiest to launch from a dig. Hence the varied 60' times with them.
Good kill regardless.

But really, there's no way he should get the jump on a Mach 1 out of the hole, especially if it has 3.73's.

Unless dude driving said Mach got a little antsy and dropped the clutch at a few thousand RPM's too high, but i'd generally agree, the Mach should pull the win on this one each time.

in this case the owner of the mach screwed himself over. he could have easily gotten much more out of the deal; he has no one to blame but himself.
