Default Opinions on Yank SS3600 with 3.23 gears

Hey guys I've been lurking around the automatic transmission section for quite some time now with the intention of swapping converters in my 01 WS6. Yank is running an awful good deal on the SS3600 converters right now and I'm in a good enough financial position to pick one up

I know that typically with a stall similar in size to this one that the widely recommended rear end gear would be 3.73. however, right now I want to stick with the 3.23, knowing that I will be upgrading to a 12 bolt in the future. i was just wondering if this combination will compliment eachother well for the time being as the 12 bolt is probably still something i wont do for another year or more.

vehicle mods are as follows:

MTI Lid
Ported/Polished and modified Throttle Body
LPP 321 Stainless Longtube Headers and Off Road Y-Pipe
Borla Adjustable Exhaust
QA1 Coil-overs
UMI Subframe Connectors
BMR Loop
UMI Adjustable Panhard Rod
Dynotune Dry Shot (100 Shot)
Billet Specialties Street Lites 17x7 and 17x11, Mickey Thompson 315 Drag Radials

Cam only is the next step after stall BTW, looking to go big.

So basically shooting for a Bolt on's, cam only, and a small shot of nitrous.

Tell me what you guys think!

I just went from a PY 3400 Extreme to a 3600SS. I really haven't tried it out because the car is in storage and it was -6 out this morning. But after seeing my buddies car hitting 1.5's on M/T drag radials compared to my 1.7x's, I switched!!!

The 3600SS is their most popular. And I still have the stock rear end with 3.23's

GO 4 IT !!!!

With a good converter, you're fine with 3.23s. I switched from 3.23s to 3.73s and really didn't gain squat. Besides, stock rearends "seems" to run out of luck when switching to a higher ratio, especially on n20.

There are quite a few 10-11 second members here that have stock 3.23s.

stock 3.23s are fine keep them till you get a 12 bolt that is the right path to take...if you are going cam only i recommend the ss4000, i have had both as you can see...

first off you will LOVE the yank ss3600! i've had mine for almost 2 years now and its been great. For the first almost year i was running 3.23s, then stepped up to the 3.73s and it was a HUGE difference for me. If you plan on a 12bolt then u might as well wait for the gears though. Good luck

yeah originally I had wanted something a little bit larger but the deal they have on the SS3600 is really good. car is not a daily, fair weather only so driveablility isnt top priority. however it spends 90% of its time on the street.

i think i might go ahead and pick one up. hopefully ill see maybe a half second of ET increase.

any recommendations on transmission coolers?

I have a Yank 4200 along with 3.23 gears and it's not bad at all,I think it could benefit from 3.73's or 4.10's but most suggest staying with the 3.23's for now!

I have the ss3600 and 3.23's. I never had a stall before this and was a little reluctant to go with a stall, but after driving it I'm all smiles. It is fun, and makes a big difference.
Just realize you will need a set of Drag Radials afterwards.

I have 3.42's and the SS3600 is excellent on the street. I enjoy it every day. Although it flashes 500rpm higher than my old TCI 3000, I was surprised that I don't 60' any better with it, though. Driveability is very similar between the two converters.

You will find out that the Yank 3600 is a very good converter and its very popular. I was set on this converter but after seeing Circle Ds triple disk converter, Im thinking twice now.

It's on a 315 Mickey Thompson right now

I'll have to read up on str's real fast. It's probably the part of a converter that I understand the least.

And while we're at it lets go ahead and talk cams. I'd like to go as large as i can within reason of course. Roller rockers really aren't in the cards for me right now so keep that in mind, and I'd like to stick with single valve springs. Really looking for a good cam with useable power not just some peaky cam. Any recommendations?
