Best place to Sell Car?
Guys help me out.
I am looking to sell my 85' Monte Carlo SS. I have Posted it for sale here and on other forums. I really need to sell the car. Where is a good place to post it for sale. Is there a place that I could go and let it sit for sale. Help me out here I am lost. I have tried things I am starting to think that people just arn't spending money right know. Thanks any input helps. Trevor

Craigslist, and the car forums. You are correct about people not spending money right now. I have listed a couple of things on craigslist that would have sold in a matter of days before last Christmas. This year I only got a couple of calls after more than a week.

The best place to list it is going to be autotrader. If you aren't in a hurry to sell it posting it up on forums should sell it, but autotrader should sell if faster if its a fair price. When I sold my S10 Xtreme a few years ago I put it on autotrader and within a few days a guy called about and came and bought it later that week. Compared to when I was selling my Z I had it listed on here and a few other forums and it didn't sell for a couple months, but that was also in the middle of the winter. Just be patient and you should get what you want out of it.

Yea I am just gonna have to be patience. I think that it will sell its just gonna have to take some time. When spring comes and I still haven't sold it I will post it up on autotrader.

You can get an ad that runs until it sells. So if you don't sell it within the next couple on months it says on there. Its like $55 for that and you can have like 18 or 27 pictures of something, pretty good deal, $50 isn't a lot to sell a car.

Historically cars don't sell good in Oct-Dec; CL and Ebay(now that they changed the way the charge you) is the best place I have found to sell a car. Ebay you have to ask what you want in the form of a BIN price (don't haggle with the auction). CL is cheap but locallized and lots of broke people trying to get a deal.

No that is really cheap that is what I had to do when I sold my GT years back. I just may do that again.

I would like to put it on ebay but I really don't want them to take a chunk out of the sold price. Craigslist is for sure only local and for someone looking for a deal.

the 80's Monte SS is definitely a specialty car. They have some mystique about them that keeps their market value high. Thus, you arent going to find some kid that wants to buy it for his HS daily driver... you are only really going to be marketing to legit car people that have the cash on hand to take on another project car.
i've wanted a Monte SS for a long time, and yours needs a lot less work than most of the ones i've looked at in that price range. i'd love to take it off your hands, but i just dont have the cash on hand at this time.

$125 is all that ebay charges when you sell your car at the reserve price. Not a bad deal if you sell the car and make $1500 profit. If you are already upside down in the car then another $125 does suck.
