Default opti question

anybody have a link to a write up or tell me how you can use the opti on an lt1 when using a carb


i totaled out my 383 caprice so i'm putting it in something else and if i can run an opti then i can shove the motor back more

The opti is totally dependant on the computer to command the actual timing. Is not like an HEI where it is physically set, going to need a computer of some sort to control it and that computer will need TPS and MAP inputs. In the end it might be easier to consider keeping the injection. That r deal with the fact you need a rearmount distributor.

There are other alternatives but the price goes way up.

Why not keep the injection????? I am SOOOO glad that I did not listen to everyone elses opinion when I shoved the LT1 in my GMC and kept the EFI!!!

Just a thought!

Gotcha, use a crank trigger and a front mount distributor, or the DIS setup from ELectromotive, neither one needs the distributor in the rear. The opti is heavily relaint on the ECM!!!

You can run a crank trigger/msd box and a gutted opti. Pretty simple set-up that works.
