Winter mod's Round One.

First round of the winter mods - Corbeau A4's in black leather. The seats look great and are actually more subtle than you might think. I had them add the lumbar support which is a funky bulb type like a blood pressure cuff but they work well and the bulb tucks behind the seat after being inflated. The seats are pretty comfortable and definitely provide a lot more support in the sides and shoulders. These are touring seats and don't cradle the hips as much as more aggressive seats but they are a lot more comfortable

The mechanical stuff happens next weekend.

I used the Corbeau rails and they were about $1,200 with lumbar and rails. The leather adds to the cost considerably.

Corbeau doesn't offer them but they could be added. I don't drive the car when it's cold enough to use them.

My old seats were recently recovered and with new foam. I sold them to a friend.

How much do they weigh? Are they ligher than the stock seats?

I didn't weigh them but I think I remember seeing someone else did and the pair were 25-30lbs lighter.

This evening I finally took the car out for a 40 mile spin.

Getting into the car now you definitely "back in". The side bolsters are much more pronounced than the stock seats. That's with the seats all the way back which is where I need these and the stockers. I'm 6"3: 178lbs. The seats hug you snugly on the sides and shoulders. The seat base is comfortably padded and not that much diferent than stock in the base. The back of the seat is also nicely padded and never felt too hard. My stock seats had fresh padding and leather and these are a very doable replacement for those. I would highly recommend the inflatable lumbar support which I did get. I did elevate the front of the rails about 1/2". I may raise it a little more.

Overall, I'm extremely happy after months of agonizing about whether to do the seats or not. I'm really glad I did. You get form and function with good comfort unlike a rigid bucket type aftermarket seats. I think they will only get more comfortable as they break in.

Did I mention they look cool as hell in the car?

So how was your install experience with these? It looks like you did the passenger/driver switch. Did you have to mill the rails any?

Did you go with the standard width or did you get the extra wide? Where did you get them from?

I did have to switch the sides. Everything else was bolt it.

Only the standard seats will fit. I got them from http://www.Racing-Seats-USA.Com. They were very good to deal with and even having the lumbar added I still had them in a week.
