I think most people with the 4l60 leave it in Drive. You will have to experiment with what rpm works best for you. Some people launch off idle, some at 1500, some at 2500, etc. It just depends on what works best for you and your car.

Never manually shift your auto. Pointless and will do nothing but reduce the longevity of your A4. How big of a stall do you have? What brand is it? What air pressure are you running in the tires and what size are they? Just go out and experiment a little bit, but don't manually shift the car.

an auto will always beable to shift faster and at a better time than you will. so let it do its job

Up the pressure to 22 PSI, drop it to 18 PSI and try both those. Launch the car around 1800-2200 RPMS depending on what works best with the air pressure and rpm combo.

let your 4l60e introduce you to your rev limiter. mine did....

Automatic transmissions are designed to have more capacity when in the manual ranges. This help with durability if anything. Unless you are running a manually shifted valve body the controls will dictate when it shifts anyway.

i know i have a six speed but my 315 35 17 nittos hook the best at 13-14 psi. just thought i would throw that in there.

I had a 3600.. on some 275/50 MT ET Streets at 12 psi I would bring it up to about 1200 RPM's and then smash it to the floor, it would lift the tires and cut about a 1.56-1.58 60ft on average.
