Default Water Pump Rattle

Can anyone describe to me what the inner construction of a V8 LS1 water pump consists of?

I bought a used water pump and noticed that it makes a faint rattle by the pulley only when I shake it back and forth in the direction parallel to the pulley shaft, and I've been trying to find out what it could be. I flushed the pump with water while turning the pulley, but the loose object didn't move from its location, and it apparently doesn't interfere with the smooth rotation of the pulley itself either. Because of this, I've assumed that it probably isn't something that fell inside. So far, it has been suggested to me that it could be the air bleeder valve or a bad bearing.

Any input is greatly appreciated.
