witch gasket on lq9 heads ?

Default witch gasket on lq9 heads ?

i am going to install lq9 heads on a ls1 block and i have 2 mls head gaskets part #12589226 . i have placed them over the combustion chamber on the lq9 heads and they seem fine. but i just wanted to make sure. any help would be appreciated.

The ones I have are part # 12589227. I'm not sure what the difference is. What I have is the 4.020 MLS gasket

i think you have the gaskets for an lq9 motor, i have gaskets for an ls1 motor.

yea i knew that. i was asking if the ls1 mls gasket will work with the lq9 heads that i am installing on my ls1. thanks

You should use the 6.0 Gasket since it will better match the combustion chamber on the head. I believe the 5.7 would over hang the chamber on the head and May not seal properly... I know it was explained on here before by Richard from WCCH...

aren't the ls6 gaskets exactly the same as the ls1 gaskets ? it is basically the same block.

Measure the width of the combustion chamber and cylinder bore diameter. Use a head gasket with a bore diameter larger than both measurements and in the thickness you prefer.

thanks, i made up my mind and i will go with the 6litre gaskets, that should solve everything.
