I hear so much good about this beer...but can't get it anywhere near here. I was supposed to be getting some from a member here as a favor and have never seen any :( I've got a sixxer of Paulaner Salvator in the fridge right now...so I guess that's my favorite until it's gone :)

Are you sure it has a sufficient percentage of wormwood extract? What is sold in the states contains something like .0001% wormwood.

edit: These (American) brands must pass TTB testing, which is performed by the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry method[86]. The TTB considers a product to be thujone-free if the FDA’s test measures less than 10ppm (equal to 10mg/kg) thujone.

Can't go wrong with lager. I live about 30 min. from original brewery. There is a diff. taste depending on where it's brewed but it's all good. I started drinking it cause it was cheap but now it's pretty popular but worth it.

absinthe is nasty...went on a group purchase and paid $70 for a bottle

tastes like fishing bait even with the sugar added properly and its nothing but alcohol...I've even read where vintage bottles from europe have been tested and the only thing that has any hallucinigenic properties is the fact its 120 proof

unless some modern places in europe are just lacing it with something...mine was not

Fresh Yuengling as my standard beer. When I go home to the Coal Region of PA I get fresh Yueng on tap. Here in Maryland it's often skunky in the stores. Sadly enough my friends in PA drink Bud products which give me a splitting headache.

Sam Adams is my go to beer at restaurants. I don't think that I've ever had skunked Sammy. Their seasonals are a good change too.

Other than that I'll try anything from Devil's Canoe to Ole Leghumper Ale and everything in between.

Currently have Dogfish Head Raison D'Etre in the fridge to go with the steak I'm having tonight. Good stuff, but not for the light beer chicks.

We have a liquor store that is insanely huge and has pretty much every beer they can get their hands on (no Fat Tire or Yeung though, f'ing import laws). Usually grab a 30 of PBR then buy a 6pack or two of something I've never tried.

Can't list everything, but personal faves are Shipyard Pumkinhead and Sol (in the summer). Pretty much any IPA as well. +1 for Dogfish Head. Just had some rare one on tap that they only made 100 kegs of, pretty good even at $6.

Have a chance to grab some of this stuff: http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/food/2005-10-03-beer-usat_x.htm but at $20 a bottle I decided not. Beer snobs around the world almost unanimously consider it the best but I'm not so sure I could appreciate it's greatness.

Used to drink a bunch of Sparks, but since they took the caffeine out one might as well just make vodka bombs.

I'm scared to try Westvleteren 12. With it being rated #1, I'm sure I'd put it on a perception pedestal that it simply could not meet. I think that's what happened to me with Rochefort Trappist 10, and I was horridly disappointed with that "great" beer. I'd read all the ratings, was superbly excited when my local store had it... and once I started drinking it, realized that I did not enjoy it in the least. Ahh well, there goes another 8 dollar bottle of beer. :lol: Give me a St Bernardus Abt 12 quad any day. :nod: Heck, I'd take a Trois Pistoles over a Rochefort 10.

{and for you non beer nerds, choosing a Unibroue product over a true trappist is like saying I'd drink instant coffee instead of Starbucks :lol: }

Rochefort is a great beer IF it is served in the right glass and temperature. If anything is not exactly right it is a mediocre beer at best. I learned this about a lot of Belgian beers, especially Trappist beers. They have to be the right temperature, recommended on the bottle, and they have to be served in the glass that the brewery has made especially for their beer. Sounds funny and even slightly crazy but I have found it to be true. Try it again if you can get the glass and the temp right. I will almost guarantee you'll think differently about it. Orval is better in my opinion though.
