They made 7176 Turbo TTop Trans Ams in 1980. Other than that, I do not know

The rear disc brakes are worth more than the turbo. ;)
It was a very anemic (and odd) 301 ci turbo motor that can't hang with a 'real' V8.

They aren't too well liked. The 301 is a dog, and the carb'd turbo setup did not offer very much performance due to a lack of technology and the 70's smog equipment. I knew of two people with late 70's/early 80's Trans Ams. One was a 403 Olds smogger engine and the other had the 301 Turbo. The 301 Turbo was the bigger dog of the 2 and had less potential overall.
The turbo V8's aren't worth much unless they are pristine.

If its a very solid car with no rust/nice paint/runs good/nice interior, then its worth that much. I personally can't stand that yellow, and I'm sure its not a factory color.
I'd look for a 77-79 Trans Am, I personally hate the front end on the 80-81. I'd go for one of those disco colors like gold, tan, or chocolate brown. That bright yellow is very period uncorrect.

Almost as rare as my mom's 2004 honda civic.

agreed with the fisrt part but 79 also looked the same as a 80-81, 77 and 78 were the good years out of the later models, but the best 2nd gen was the 70 1/2 to 73 trans am.

Not rare but a good price if its in good shape, but to make any real hp would have to swap it out.

those cars may have set a record for the least amount of power ever produced by a turbocharged V8.
I think it's one of those cars that might be worth quite a bit one day if it's kept in perfect condition, but part of me thinks it's a waste of money. I'd look for a normal T/A and throw a good engine in it.

With the turbo charger set up complete it is worth a few bucks more than a standard Trans Am in similar condition. If you are looking for a car to invest in and restore, this wouldn't be a bad choice. It is a fairly low production and having an intact set up makes it a good investment in a depressed market. It would take a little clean up and you would have to sit on it for a few years, but if you get it back to 100pt or close you would see some money for it when the market comes back.
