Help me spec for Cam Only
Alright guys I'm wanting to pull the trigger on a cam and stall here in the upcoming months and feel like having a custom spec'd cam by Patrick G or someone would be my best bet.
The car is a FULL weight 2001 WS6
It is a fair weather only car
Driven <3000 miles a year
Driveability is not top priority
95% street car with 4-5 track visits a year
Would like to maintain the function of AC etc.
Mods are as follows:
MTI Lid
Ported/Polished and modified Throttle Body
LPP 321 Stainless Longtube Headers and Off Road Y-Pipe
Borla Adjustable Exhaust
QA1 Coil-overs
UMI Subframe Connectors
BMR Loop
UMI Adjustable Panhard Rod
Dynotune Dry Shot (100 Shot)
Billet Specialties Street Lites 17x7 and 17x11, Mickey Thompson 315 Drag Radials
Planning on a Yank SS3600 or SS4000.
Will be using the stock LS6 Intake for the time being.
I would really like to get set up with a decent sized cam with good under the curve power that will be a good compromise between street and strip.
Let me know if there are any other things that need to be considered to make a good decision. thanks to anyone that helps!

Why not something more like a Trak package with dual springs by thunder racing
231/234 .640/.590 112 LSA
Do you want something choppy, sleaper, in between, when do you want power to come in
early 224 1700 rpm
late Trex 3500 rpm
231/234 .640/.590 112 LSA

Choppy is fine, doesn't need to be a sleeper at all. I like obnoxious haha.
I don't want to jeopardize the longevity of the stock bottom end so probably something that comes on mid power band. not something thats real peaky and that I'll have to spin to the moon.
Thanks!

i would go with an MS3, lift is high and so is the duration and it wont outflow your stock heads unlike some of the other big cams and it makes good power all the way around, and you can get it on a 113 LSA that will like that 100 shot alot. a 3600-4000 would be perfect for that set up. good luck!

you gotta spin the MSx cams pretty high to get max power.
little lower duration should still make good power, all across the rpm range and you shouldn't have to go much above 6500rpm.
someplace there was a thread that i was posting in, numbers on an MS3 cam. the guy had similar mods to mine, and made +30hp peak than my 233 cam....but his torque was horrible. he made like 8# more peak, and at 3500rpm he was 20-30# below me.
something to think about

24X/24X 112 will make plenty of steam, but your 17's arent going to get you much traction, since you can't put any real sidewall tire to them imo. If you look at chris's car, the small cam combo, it runs the number but has the chassis to go with it.
