Default Max RPM for Hydraulic Lifters????

I know with a proper valvetrain you can get a motor to rev past 7000rpm, but I want to know how much. Let's say stainless steel valve, dual springs, titanium retainers, totally roller aluminum rocker arms, 4130 pushrods, and CompCams Pro Hydraulic Lifter as far as the valvetrain goes. With high compression and 347cid, the cam I picked will peak at 7000rpm. Of course, my shift point needs to be about 5-10% of this making it 7300 to 7700rpm and a redline at almost 8000rpm. Is this insane for a hydraulic lifter with zero preload? Of course the motor is not going to see these high rpm alot just at the hardest drags at the track. What do you guys think?

Insane for a hydraulic setup, you'll break a rod bolt and throw a rod on a stock motor with that kind of rpm, the stock rod bolts won't handle it and even with a built motor (assuming I wanted to spin it that high) I would set redline at 7700rpm and shift at 7300rpm.

Better safe then sorry

of course, I meant a build and balanced motor. But my question is still out there for more builders.

I've turned comp r lifters before to 8500 rpms in some of our customer's cars.

I did some research on this when i was putting together my 348ci blower motor.

Based on what I heard, I went with Comp R lifters, and am running almost no preload. I am not running a cam with the fastest ramps, they have moderate ramps. I have Crane single springs that in order to get the installed heighth right I went with a .100 longer valve.

I am setting my rev limiter for 7300.

I buzzed my old 422ci ARE motor up to 7200 many times on the dyno and it was fine.

I think 7700 is too high.

What valve springs do you plan to run?

I was planning on a set of dual springs with enough pressure to keep valve float to a minimum. Depends on the acutal cam specs. I was mainly asking to see if anyone else has done it.

After reading J-Rods post I would go with titanium valves for those RPM's.
