I will try to describe this the best i can..... I always thought it was piston slap because i heard it in the morning when i first stated the car.. But now there seems to be another tick/knock and its a little more prominent...I hear it when i am accelerating easy and .. especially if i let off the gas right before it shifts and the motor kinda (free spins) it gets loud then dies out as the motor shifts and drops rpms... i really dont hear it at idle only when there is a load on the car (i.e. Its in drive and moving)... When im cruising if i let off the gas i dont hear it.. If i lighty give it gas to keep my constant speed i do it hear it and it goes with the RPM's... If i give it half throttle or more to accelerate the sound goes away...so only under light throttle do i hear it.. put a good load on the motor and it goes away... also after about 35 mins of driving the sound almost goes away completely ... then it might return later... Its Crazyness... I was thinking loose rocker or somthing..bent pushrod?....... I thought maybe collapsed lifter but the engine runs fine...:bang: am i loosing my mind?
Ive heard a spun bearing before and its def not that loud... i have to turn my radio off to hear it... thats why i was thinking loose rocker and sticky lifter?

The valvetrain is a good place to start. I would yank the covers off and take a peek.

Yea im going to try to get them off when i get home... I only have about 35-40 mins of daylight by the time i get home. (Damn Daylight Savings) Are all the Coil packs bolted to a bracket or individually bolted to the VC.. And can i reuse the gaskets.. are the the rubber type or cork..

If you're referring to the 01 Z in your sig, all of the coil packs should be bolted to a bracket that is bolted to the valve cover. The gasket is rubber and can be reused most of the time. If there are a whole bunch of miles on the gaskets, I would probably replace them for good measure. GM recently redesigned the gasket. The new ones are black and they started making them with a harder rubber. They also fit into the cover better better than the old grey ones. I would recommend going with those if you replace them.

I drove my t/a around for quite a while with a tap, and had several opinions on what it was.

Turned out to be a lifter and I didn't get to it untill it ate up my camshaft
