As a guy with an STS, all i have to say is why?

And 1000 hp is alot of turbo back there.

With a Chevelle and a LS motor you'll have more room than you know what to do with in the engine bay.

Front mount a 88-ish size turbo and it will be great. (maybe bigger?)

Default rear mount!!!!

only speaking from what i've read but i would rather remote mount it to keep down engine bay temps!!!! the other advantage's i've seen are the positive charge on the intake pipe from being so long cuts down on lag!!!!and being that long actully works as a type of intercooler....but most of all i just think it's cool puttin it out site!!!! but this is all new to me....never owned an ls1 or a turbo so any and all reply and advise is greatly appreciated!!!! thanks monte!!!!

As another STS guy, with what your building I would definately think about a frount mount set up. Nothing bad to say about STS but with the right heads, cam, and a larger turbo like MonochromeSS stated, you'll reach your goal.

Although I'm curious to see if you'll get the 20+mpg vacay driver out of it. Not saying that you can't!!!

As a STS employee I can tell you that your goals are very realistic with the remote mount setup. Are you planning on a single or twin setup? Either way we have a universal setup that will suit your needs.

As far as the heads go I would think that a ported set of 317's should do the trick.

PM me for more info on our universal system.

I also have an STS and if I had your platform I would Put a twin screw like a Kenne Bell on that LS1 and make some serious torque to get that big car out of the hole !!!

I also own an sts kit, and with the room you have go front mount and never look back. Engine bay heat is not going to be a problem with that much room and using proper heat shields or exhaust wrap.

I would not go more than 18psi on a stock 4bolt head for reliability sake.
As stated above you will need at least an 88mm to make that power.
How many cubes of engine you going to run?

another sts guy here and id say just do a front mount turbo, i like my sts but if i was shootin for 1000hps im not so sure that would be the way to go. id go up front and witha big turbo..and with the sts you would still need an intercooler even tho the pipes are long..and you would have to deal with turbo lag..i say front mount it

I've got an STS too. Your goals are complete achievable with the STS kit, you're just going to need a big turbo out back!!! 1000RWHP is cool to say you have but good luck hooking on the street. It's just me but I'd rather be hooking with 500-600rwhp than spinning with 1000. Horse power you can use is what's needed for the street.

Of course there is a thing called a boost controller that works great when you just need that little extra kick!!!
