Flowmaster 44 Series on 96 Lt1
Is it possible to put a 44 series flowmaster muffler on a 1996 lt1 trans am? I have an 80 series on there now and it is not loud enough. Can a bend a pipe so where they both come out on one side of the muffler to come back across to the other side and come out the rear?

Ok IMO flowmaster should only go on old cars. i think it sounds like crap on fuel injected motors of any kind. instead of putting another flowmaster on it u should save your money and buy a better cat-back. i got my magnaflow 2 years ago and it's only $400 and its very good. alot of people run magnaflow on this site. there are also better ones if u keep going up in price. And magnaflow is ok at idle but when u open it up it sounds good. hopefully when i get my headers and ORY it will be alot louder. That just my opionion.

Id try it, but I'd use a 40 or super 40 like stated earlier. My buddy has some 44s on his truck and they remind me of turbo mufflers.
^^^I hate magnaflow, just sounds like its missing something when you get on it. Only thing with flowmasters is that everyone and there brother is running them on their car/truck around here.

i have an 80 series flowmaster and it is definitely quiet and i can tell it really lags top end from not being able to flow enough. if you look up flow numbers for common mufflers the 80 series is about the lowest flowing aftermarket one you can buy, wish i would know that before i got it!
but i plan on just throwing a DHM electric cut-out on the car for those situations when max flow is needed

O yeh and by the way instead on getting a new muffler why not just get a cutout. sure magnaflow is to quiet for me, so i just got an electric cutout and then its all loud when i want it and semi quiet when i want that. A cutout cost like 150 bucks for everything u need. IDK thats just my opionion, but i would say flowmaster is only if u dont want to spend the money on something good. And on f-body's flowmaster look like crap too.

I disagree. I love the sound of my Flowmasters. Well, they're knock-off Flowmasters, but the exact same thing. Almost everything I hear with a Fowmaster on it sounds good. The only exception is the 80 series. It's just way too raspy. But, part/most of that is because of the Y-pipe design anyways.
