Wheels & Tires - My new 17x11 ZR1's (36mm offset)

Well, I did a test fit tonight of my new 17x11 ZR1's on my car. They are the a 36mm offset. The reason I got the 36mm instead of 50mm, is because I wanted authentic GM wheels, to match my 17x9's, instead of having replica wheels on the back, and authentic ones on the front. So, these are actual wheels off a 94-95 ZR1 Vette. They've got 315/35/17 Nitto NT555r DR's mounted on them. I'm very happy with the look and fitment of them. Best of all, no BFH or fender rolling was necessary. Here's a few crappy pics from my cell phone. I'll have some better pics after they're put on the car for good, in the Spring.

After looking at these pics, I think I've decided that I'm going to get some new 275's for the front, instead of 245's, and maybe a small spacer for them, so it won't look like such a huge difference between the front and back.

That might be a good idea.

I think just the 275s will make it look a ton better. No need to mess with a spacer.

Yeah, I've got some 275/40 Fuzion ZRi's sitting in the shed. But, they're not in the best shape. That's why I replaced them with the 245/45 Fuzion ZRi's in the pics. I would've gotten 275's again, but I got a killer deal on these 245's, so I jumped on it. Maybe I could turn around and sell them for about what I paid for them, and get a decent set of 275's for the fronts.

Ya, I wouldnt run a spacer either. 275s should do it. The 17x11s look good, nice choice.

Anyone have any experience with these Hankook's? They appear to be a pretty good deal. And I'm not too worried about them hooking up well, since they'll just be on the front. Looks like those will rub on a big bump or pothole. You haven't had any problems with that? Looks good anyway!!

I haven't driven it with them on there yet. There's too much snow on the roads. But, that's exactly how it was when I was running an inch spacer on my 17x9's, and I never rubbed when I hit a bump or anything, with them. So, I'm thinking that I should be fine with these too. I guess we'll just have to see what happens.

Well, I drove with them on for the first time yesterday. I took the sandbags out of the back, so the rear wasn't sagging as much as in the pics. But, I do have a slight rub going on. It has to be a very big bump at 70+ mph though, and it's only on the right side. I'm thinking about getting some adjustable rear shocks, and I'll just stiffen them up a little, to see if that will keep them from rubbing. I'm pretty sure I need new shocks and struts anyways. I've been hearing a popping noise coming from the right rear for the past few months, and it appears to sag a little more than the driver's side too. If that doesn't help, then it looks like I'll have to have the fenders rolled.

Rubbing on the outside isn't usually the issue. It's the rubbing in the inner fenderwells. A spacer with a narrow wheel would fix that. Not sure how it will work with the 11" wheels, though. If it rubs on the inside (which it probably will), your options are limited to a bigger spacer or the BFH mod.

Yes. The 36mm offset has deeper lugs. The 50mm has a deeper lip.

they both have the same lip if u get the gm wheels. the only ones with the deep lip are the reproduction ones.

I didn't think GM ever actually made a 50mm offset ZR1. I know the 36mm came on the ZR1, but what did the 50mm come from?

The GM 50mm offset 17x11 ZR1's are the black ones found on the '96 Corvette Grand Sport.

50mm offset with tuck in the fender better, and stick out less.

^^^ Agreed. THe bigger lip looks better too IMO
