Default Thermastat

Okay, dumb question, but does the thermastat point go down or face you when you install it. The one in there was gutted so maybe the person before me had it in wrong and decided to gut it or they wanted to save money and just gutted it, either way i want to make sure it is in right.
Thanks guys.

uh...the rubber piece should be on top, so the 4 holes on the bottom should be pointed down.

It can only go in one way from what I remember. The point should be up and away from the waterpump and the spring should be inside the housing of the waterpump.

Actually the thermastat I have doesn't quite look like the one above, and it will go in either way cause I tried it, the one that came out as well. But the one I took out was in the way you described. Thanks guys.

If it does not look like the one above, it is the wrong one. You need to install the correct LT1 thermostat. No way it can be installed upside down.
