I am thinking it started towards the rear of the engine bay. But unsure yet, I have yet to tear into it, Due to waiting on the adjuster to come look at it on monday..

dude thats crazy! did you run any new wires ie a system or anything around the area it started? if so remove that wire because the adjuster will screw ya over if so! even if it isnt what started it!

Nope. No new wires or anything. It was a fuel fire...
I was driving when I smelled fuel, so I went and turned in the turning lane, caught a red light, and the car died. I went to start it up when it turned green, and PUFF!!!!
There was a puddle probably 7 to 8 feet in dia. Were the car had been sitting, and a trail of fuel for about 25 feet.

That's a bummer, at least it wasn't a total loss.
I know GTO's had a fire issue, are LS1 cars known to have any such thing?

No, but that car doesn't have a stock fuel set up either.
I have a feeling you ain't gettin' anything from the ins. co. You modified the car (fuel system in particular) and they will say that caused the fire. Did you modify it or did a shop?

This was the system that was on the car when I purchased it.. The only thing I have changed on the car, is weight reduction, and a new M9 Rear end..
I hope to god that doesn't happen. I am thinking it will be in the 3k range. Cost wise....

This is the suggested retail price of the car. I can't remember if the insurance company goes by this, or something else...

Man I have been in your place before. However it was with my 68 camaro when I was in High school..Just like you, I smelled gas, turned the corner and woof...I was a block from my friends house and had new fuel line in my car to replace the old.
One thing it did was force me to learn about wiring and such. Luckily for me the guy across the sreet bought a 67 camaro to part out and I was able to get the wiring from him and some other parts I needed. The rest was from junk yards and swap meets. No Ebay back then.
Good luck with your car. I know it sucks to sit and watch it burn..

one more reason to ALWAYS carry a fire extinguisher is a modded car like yours. those pics are tough to look at....

lmao. why did you have to remind me...????:bang::bang::bang:
I took my extinguisher out of the car three weeks before this, cause I was cleaning the whole inside of it out..(I barely drive this car, maybe once or twice a month) Well I didn't put it back in, So I had to sit and watch my car burn for about 5 minutes, until a guy at a furniture store come running out with one...
