Single Digit Club - Single digit guys, what gear ratios are you running?

This is more of a statistics thing than anything else, I'm just wondering what gear ratio you're running. Thanks

3.73 with 30 inch tires PG with 1.80 first gear my car is pt 98/88 turbo

I would like to tag along and ask what F.I. single digit guys are running?

3.07:1, 29in tyre, glide with stock 1.76 first gear.. 8.98@160mph on stock GTO rear suspension..
twin 66m turbos, 408ci

3:90 with a Glide 28" tires. Stock cube LS1 with a couple stages of the juice. 73-7400 MAX RPM

3.90, 9in, 28x11.5's, TH400

On nitrous I am going through the traps around 7000rpm's...

4.10, 9 inch, 29x10.5w, th350

3:73's moser 12 bolt Hoosier 30" radial slicks. non lock up th350

3.25 9 inch 28" radial Th400

these all seem like respectable gear ratios. so who are the guys using gear ratios in the 5's and 6's?

3.40s last year...going with 3.70s this year ;)

Mid 7s, 3.50 last year, switching to 3.25s.

The guys that aren't making very much power.

Look at it like this if you run 180 mph with a 5 or 6 gear what rpm would you be turning . If you make the power the et will come

not sure, i just figured those gear ratios were for guys with really tall tires, but i can't find anyone that runs a tire that tall. maybe just dragsters?

I have a th400 with a 3.90 gears. I am going through on motor around 6300-6400rpm's. On nitrous i am going through around the 7,200 range.

TH-400; 9"; 3:50; 30" tires Best todate: 8.9's at 154mph; going through traps at 6800-6900

I was thinking you was asking the sub 10 sec f body group. I would say 3/4 of us all run 28 to 30 inch tall tires. and if you get over 150 mph and have any convertor slip you will be up in the Rs.

I'm not in the single digits yet, but '09 should be a good year. My car has a stock 3.42 10 bolt on a 26-10.50 ET Street. I broke 3 10 bolts in the '07 season and 2 in the '08 season. I run 2 small stages and go through the traps on only one stage @ about 6.2k (fixed window switch shuts off at 6k). I'll be installing a set of ported heads (currently stock 853 castings), a 35 spline 9'' with 3.25 gears, and sending my converter back to PI to be freshened up and stalled higher (currently a 2800 going to go to a 3600-4000).

4.30's 4l80e, traps at 7000 @ 148mph locked converter.29.5 tire

3.73's hear, turnin around 6700 to 6800 at the 1/4 mile

I'm running 3.42's

2.75 on a 28" tall tire t-400. It's my daily driver so I like the gears on the street. runs 9.90's with a turbo'd 346.

OP has a 9 second cobra now. lol

Tall tire does not mean you need a 5 or 6 series gear. At 213 mph, and a very tall tire, my car still uses a 4.10.
As mentioned, with power, comes other issues.
Getting off the line, tire shake, crossing the stripe below 9000 rpm, ect ect.
Still using a very tall tire, but only running 180, I am about to try a 4.57.
The huge gears are for small power guys usually running 1/8th mile.
Some high winding small blocks will use a low 5 series, but not many.
Even big power cars don't go much higher for 1/8th mile racing, because you can't get off the line.
At least most of us don't bother changing gears, and I have every gear from 3.90-4.86 for my car.
