Default Anyone know about the 14 bolt FF?

I've got a 1992 GM corporate 14 bolt 10.5
Problem is it spun the carrier bearing on the drivers side. The bearing is ate up pretty good but the inner race spun on the carrier.
Should I put some Loctite bearing mount on the new one?
I didn't get the bearing off yet but the inner race spins on the carrier.
I'm assuming the new one is going to be a slip fit.
What would you do?

Nevermind, I got it.
Anyone know the procedure to setting the carrier bearing preload?
It has adjusters, how do you judge how tight the preload is?

Heres a pic FWIW 10.5 next to a 7.625

wow thats quite a big difference. do you have that in your F body ??

No, it's in my '92 dually.

Well I found that too.

FWIW:
Install 2 bearing caps (1) in their
original positions with 4 new
Iockwashers (6) and bolts (5),
Tighten bolts just enough to hold
bearing caps in place.
Loosen right side adjusting nut (8)
and tighten left side adjusting nut until
ring gear (4) contacts drive pinion
gear without binding. This is zero
(“O”) lash.
Back off left side adjusting nut (8)
approximately 2 slots. Install left side
adjusting nut lock (7), washer (3),
and bolt (2) to left side bearing cap
( l ) . Tighten bolt to 20 Ib.-ft.
(27 N.m).
Tighten right side adjusting nut (8)
until differential case (9) assembly is
forced into solid contact with left side
adjusting nut, Loosen right side
adjusting nut until it is free from
bearing contact then retighten until
contact is re-established.
6. When in contact, tighten right side adjusting nut (8) 2 slots if side bearings (11) are reused or
3 slots if side bearings are new. Install adjusting nut lock (7), washer (3), and bolt (2) to right
side bearing cap (1). Tighten bolt to 20 lb.-ft. (27 N.m).
7 . Tighten 4 bolts (5) to 135 Ib.-ft. (183 N.m).

daw i got excited for a second even tho i think that size rear would slow an F body down being so big haha

Yea, it's huge. Suprisingly the axles at the smallest point are close.
The 30 spline area on the 14 bolt is huge, but the 7.625 axle at it's smallest spot is about the same as the 14 bolt axle at it's smallest spot.

I tried getting a pic of that but couldn't.
It is nice to be able to pull the axles and diff without even jacking it up.

Well with a closer look and a coincidential spare set of no good f body axles rolling around in the sand, they 14 bolt axles are bigger.

Anyone have any tips on setting up the pinion preload?

Those bearings were replaced before and look good, so I re-used the crush collar. The 14 bolt bible (actual link) says to tighten preload 5 inch pounds tighter than it was before disassembly when using used bearings. Well my Matco impact wont do it at 150 psi, I broke the tip off a 3/4 drive breaker bar trying to tighten the pinion nut.
It did go about 1/4 inch past my marks made before disassembly. But preload is still at 0 using a snap on dial type inch pound torque wrench.

Solved that little problem, welded the socket to a 6' piece of rollcage tubing.

Guess I never ask questions because I never really need help.
