Buying pistons should I go bigger?
Ok so here's the deal. I didn't want to take any chances so I sold the SRP pistons I had (to many horror stories)... which were 4.030. But since I had the block worked for the the bore sizes varied from 4.029 - 4.032(3). Now I am going to purchase some diamond pistons (-24cc) but I see a set of the .030 and one that is .040 which should I get. I not know if it would be a risk getting the 4.030 pistons because I do not know how bad there piston sizes vary. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

How does the block look? I think part of that would be determined by what your machinist thinks needs to be done. If the cylinders are clean enough from your previous build to have them just cleaned up with a 'dingle-berry' hone then you can stick with the .030 bore. If not it was have to be taken out some more anyway and .040 is the next size up.
All in all you will save on the machine work...so if you can fork over the money to have it machined for .040...Id go bigger in a minute.

Sigh, I hate reading the same topics at two forums
I do not see why any piston should be out by .003, unless its a cheap, or very poorly made piston. You should most likely have the pistons in hand before you do the block work.

Well the pistons I had were SRP's and they did vary that much. Which is why bore sizes vary on my block. The block is good and clean. I'll just go the next step bigger and be done.

order .030 over pistons, measure the new ones, if any are too small, have then honed out a little bigger and be done with it, boring a block is the last thing I Want to do, if you don't absolutely have too I wouldn't
