Default Started Again!

Driving home last night I began to hear what sounds like radio interference. A kind off low pitch whine that increases and decreases with the speed of the car. NO THE STEREO IS NOT ON!!! BAM! a split second later the car loses power(a quick jolt of power loss) and all the gauge lights come on and then off again and the car keeps going like nothing is wrong. At first I thought I hit something, but I did not of course. Now the pitch is more noticeable. I have checked every thing. I cannot get a handle on this. Of course it will happen and then stop and will not do it again for a month or two......Any Ideas. Ignition maybe. I have noticed and this really pisses me off. The car almost never starts with the first crank. Always the second. No matter if its first start up in the morning or I have been driving all day....

I would guess alternator. Interference through stereo speakers from my experiences is a bad alternator.

Alternator most likely but first check that damn ground and make sure your coolant overflow reservoir isn't cracked.
