Probably none. Some might argue that you may be down some.

The only reason for a "ported MAF" is if its replaced by a larger one because of a 90mm intake and TB for example.

You can de-screen it and gain a some HP/TQ along with porting your TB and adding an LS6 intake.
Or as stated before wait until you find the need to match it with a bigger cube motor/Fast intake( or other brand) larger TB and then update to a bigger Maf

If you feel the need to do it, just descreen it. Porting it will throw things way off unless the maf tables are changed also.

wow again?

ive done several setups (descreened, descreened and ported, aftermarket maf) all with no tuning and havent had any issues. the people who say they have problems are just incompetent.

Thats probably because most people on here havent done damn near anything like the mods theyve claimed to know so much about, and read something once and onto the bandwagon they go! So much misinformation here lately its getting ridiculous...

My ported MAF ends in conjunction with an underdrive pulley picked up 13 rwhp in my car without tuning. Dyno proven, can't argue with that. I'm a believer now.

So most say porting the stocker isn't worth it. What about stepping up to an SLP 85 MM MAF and 85 MM lid on a bolt on car. Is it probably not worth doing unless there's a FAST setup behind it?

I did the de-screen, but I would just leave stock-enough alone. Just IMO though.

How many of those have actual dyno results to back up their claims though. If you look at an 85 mm MAF and compare it to the ported ends that I got from Thunder Racing, it's quite apparent that the Thunder Racing ends are capable of flowing more air.

With a stock MAF you're probably not going to see any real gains from porting unless you are tuned for it, and even then the gains are probably negligable. If you picked up power from a ported MAF and UD pulley, I'd be wiling to bet if u swapped it back to an oem maf there would be little if any difference. The stock fuel tables would lean you out by doing this, which could gain you a few hp but in the end you'll probably damage something, especially with other mods. I'd also be nervous about going WOT with that setup as your pcm is only reading your MAF at that point and not reading your o2s. If you want bigger, just go with a Z06/LQ9 MAF. Hope that helps!

You need to tune your car whether your porting the MAF ends or putting a new MAF on it altogether.

I installed a ported MAF on my car, and it caused my car to detonate seriously, so I put the descreened stock one back on. My friend put the same ported one on his car and it ran just fine, so its hard to say if you will have problems.

My car felt fine after descreening/porting, but when I went to get it dynotuned after headers, he told me something was weird.

My car was reading VERY lean at idle, and asked me if i ported it.

He adjusted the tables and it was fine, and I didn't even know anything was wrong in the first place,

just my .02

I agree with your first statement first of all.

What I think is that its just not worth it. There are a lot of potential problems that could show their ugly faces, and not much benifit to be had, unless your upgrading the entire intake as previously stated.

Powershift408- your gains could probably be almost entiely chalked up to the pullies which are known to make a good amount of power for the price.

Idle is the first place that you'd see problems because of the low air volume and velocity.

I think if your going to do it, do yourself a favor and get a tune with it just to be safe..

I just descreened mine, but if you think about it, a bigger MAF wont really help, unless you have a bigger everything (lid, MAF and TB/Intake). I could be way off on this, but an 85mm MAF in front of a 78mm throttle body can only flow as much as the throttle body will allow.
