93' LT1

Hey guys I'm new to ls1tech along with the whole LT1 game. Have messed around with Gen. I a lot, but still learing. I just bought a 93 camaro about a month ago that had two cracked heads a busted radiator and in need of a new clutch. Well the clutch is now in, the heads are getting welded and will plan on putting them on during spring break. I'm planning on pulling the motor out and putting a Gen. 1 carbureted 385cid in it during the summer or when I get the money, but for now I would like to do a few cheap mod's on the LT1 before that happens. I am wondering if the LT1 permits you to use 1.6 roller rockers with stock valve covers, or would I have to look into valve covers also? And if anyone had any suggestions on a good set of roller rockers to use.

If you use a narrow body rocker, the stock covers will fit. Put some better springs on the heads while you have them off, too. Some LT4 springs would be ok for the time being (plus, they are cheap).

I have SBC wide body rockers and they fit fine under stock height valvecovers.. you just need to cut out the supports

Ok Thanks for the info, would you recommend a particular brand name I've used Harland sharps, but really the only one I'm really familiar with. Also would stock LT4 springs be fine or would I need to get a little stronger than stock springs? I will do a better job of getting more out of the motor after I do the motor swap and get some money. Right now time and money are things I don't have going to college.

If you are using the stock cam, the LT4 springs should be fine for your nominal budget.

What's the most lift you can go with a set of the LT4 springs. I had got some with my LT$ hotcam kit but I'm lookin to swap out my cam for a bigger one, Something more aggresive. Will the handle damn near a 600 lift???

these springs are only designed for 100lbs on the seat stock is 85lbs...
Lt4 springs are rated at 525 lift also they were designed to work with lightweight sodium valves so i would seriously doubt they will be able to handle more than what they are rated at especially for $40.00 for a full set.
you should be looking at a set of the PAC springs they are very nice and will handle the 600 lift you plan to go to!

I have some brand new Comp dual valvesprings I'll sell you for cheap (they are better than hotcam springs). As for rockers, anything will be fine - Crane, comp, Scorpion (I personally like the Scorpions. They are very cheap and really tough and also a local company for me down in South Florida so if I have any problems they will take care of it no questions asked).

I'm running 1.6 Comp S/A rr's and they hit the underside of the covers. All you have to do is grind down the support webbing and they should work just fine. Got mine to fit with plenty of clearance afterwards.

You need to do this to both covers, pic only shows one for comparison. I did the exactly the same and I am running CC Promagnum 1.6 RR's with no problems.

The LT4 springs are barely adequate for the HOT cam. Anything bigger needs more spring.

How much are you looking to get for these springs and what lift can they handle?

Comps latest and greatest pro mags are a really nice looking rocker. But they prolly arent really a budget friendly part. I personally like them for the strength and stiffness and the fact that they are rebuildable.
