Default New BBK Intake

BBK has developed a new intake manifold for the TPI engines. Hmm, they've made a product older and newer than our LT1 engines, but nothing for the LT1.

They claim 50 HP & 50 lb/ft over a stock 5.7 IROC TPI.

I'm wondering how this would perform bolted to a LT1 engine compared to the stock maniford.

I bet the stock LT1 intake manifold would match or outperform that intake.

what a monstrosity....but if the gains are true then who cares. looks like you also need a 58mm tb as per the description to get the full gain.

i followed the making of the BBK intake on TGO for the last 2+ yrs, this intake does offer EGR provisions and is a new LEGAL upgrade for TPI cars the bad part is there was no more contact with the BBK rep roughly 1 month before the intake came out there were no true comparisons however they claim 50hp over a stock TPI
www.stealthram.com has a few tests of the HSR,mini-ram,superram and the Lt1 intake

BBK and Edelbrock are often the SAME product, I know they are for TBs and b-body headers.

So any hope of BBK developing a worthwhile LT1 intake is not well founded.

BBK was bought by Edel, but more recent BBK and Edel TBs seem to look slightly different. So... Not sure what's up.

I noticed that intake on BBKs site last month, I found it odd that not only did they make a new intake for the TPIs, BUT also that they made something new for GM! They are such Ford lovers -_-

Well, sort of. To be fair to BBK, you really can't make an intake with wider top not look like the Super Ram. It's just how the V8 (in general) is designed that makes it look as such. BBK I think probably did it a bit better though, with the more 'funneling' top plate, as apposed to the blunt edge Super Ram.

They really should've just went for an LS styled though :\ Yea, they didn't have to design a lower intake, but they still had to do the top and runners.

WHaaaat? Its a TPI intake with 1/2 the runners cut off and a top slapped on it, just like a Super ram, uses a tpi base just like a super ram also. The super ram is better IMO, more plenum volume.

You cant make a LS style intake for a GEN1, the port layout wont allow it.

the way i see it is either the custom worked HSR or the TPIs miniram will be the way to go for the money.

I know about them all, but if you take the stock TPI plenum, and widen it, then remove the parts that wouldn't be necessary to cover the runners, you have the Super Ram. Now do the same thing, but make the runner inlets more rounded for better flow, and you have the BBK version Keep the plenum the same, but move the runners into the middle and you have the Stealth Ram heh There's just not many options to accomplish a new design with out being similar to another with out RADICAL change.

Now, you COULD make an LS type intake for the GEN I/II, it would just not be "every other one" runner layout. It would be more like this:
