That just sounds wrong for a basically stock 5.0 TPI.

It's still a pretty small engine. What intake? Still the stock TPI?

IIRC that revs to around 6000k in a 383, so in a 5.0 its gonna rev like a motha

I'll have to agree with edcmat-l1, way too big of a cam for a 305. The MAF system is pretty forgiving, but it's still going to need some tuning with a large camshaft.

Think more around a cam with something under 220 duration @ .050". A ZZ4 cam is about as big as I would go with. FYI - 208/221 - .474"/.510" 112 LSA are the specs.

The CC306 you posted specs for has a powerband that is all wrong for the TPI. That's not my opinion, it's a fact.

ZZ4's cams are fairly cheap too, the last one I bought was $60 w/ barely 4K miles on it.

I am still a noob at tuning these things, I am learning as I go. Right now I am working on the tune in my 91', it seems to get a little better every time I mess with it. I'm going to have to strap it to a dyno and hook it up to a WB to get the WOT part spot on though. My parents has 3 TPI vehicles, 2 are SD, and one is MAF. So I have my work cut out for me.
