Default Susp. upgrade???

I've got a 96 LT1 M6 car that needs new shocks and struts. While I'm replacing them I might as well go with a slight drop, a good brand, and whats the best deal. Any Suggestion on brand, drop, and price?

are you looking to have a good handling car or a good drag car. the recommendations will be different depending on which you want?

I'm willin to bet you want autocross.

I'm going to get a set of konis, with strano springs and strano sway bars.
this is how I ran me Trans am when I first got it. I know it looks good and handles great.
While I'm in their ill prolly go ahead and do some lower control arms and adjustable panhard

That's what id do.

If you want a strip setup, its even easier, get some qa1's and take the front swaybar off.

Ton of guys on here will recc the strano and they are great springs. I am currently running the 'tried and tru' eibach pro-kit with Koni sports and I have never had a single problem and love the stance.

I have Drop Zone springs. Took it down 1.5 in back and only 3/4 in front. Did not effect ride hardly at all. Just leveled car up.

if your only looking for a "slight" drop the same as i was the Hotchkis was a great choice for me, a 1" drop and much better handling

I've got the Strano/Koni setup on my Trans Am. If you plan on going with the full setup - springs, shocks, SFCs, LCAs, LCA relocation brackets, PHB, Sway bars, etc. figure on spending 2K+. I have everything minus the sway bars and I've sunk around $1600 into it. (Not counting any install costs)

I never figured out the benefit of an aftermarket K-member or A arms. Weight savings only, or a more adjustable suspension? (Pardon my ignorance..)

I am wanting a great handleing car that still does alright at the strip. It is a daily driver and not a all out drag car. I had a friend who had a lt1 Z that had eibach springs and I don't know if it was that he didn't change shocks and struts but handling was aweful and almost dangerous to drive. If it is that he just needed to replace shocks and struts then I'll go with them. I do appreciate everyones input on this... I'm gonna check some prices and go from there.

Tons more strength, no adjustability that I've seen though. But I haven't looked into every brand due to the cost :S

Strano springs for sure. I don't know what your plans are as far as shocks go, but if you are going to lower it stock replacements won't work very well. You might have already known that, but just thought I'd note it in case. Konis are worth the cash if you can pull it together, but if not the KYB AGXs are still a very nice step up
