Why is it on my 1998 camaro z28 my horn sounds really high pitched and weak? does anyone else have this issue? my 1996 had a good sounding horn, but im ashamed to even use my 98's horn even when some jack *** cuts me off. Also is there a fix to this or a replacement?

your horn actually has 2 peices..one high note and one low note. your low note quit working-time to replace. its in the pass front bumper behind the corner light.

lol. I had the same problem a couple years ago. "Why the **** does my horn sound so high and wimpy?" Replace the low note horn. Pick one up from your local part store or dealer. Mostly the horn itself will be the same but sometimes the connectors are different. There should be a GM specific one.

You can buy almost any horn I believe. I want to change mines too. These are American muscle cars, they should sound like it!

Go to a junkyard and find a Cadillac horn. They have the best and loudest horn out of any car. Sounds like a train.

couple of quick questions:
1. (two part) there are two horns (high/low)? are they both located under the passenger headlight?
2. what is the best way to access them? do I have to remove a panel from underneath?
3. does anyone know where I might have easy access to the leads for the horn? my horn stopped working and I am not sure if it is the buttons on the steering wheel, the relay, or the horn itself. I figured a quick check would be to give it 12v and see if it sounds.
4. is the relay under the driver's kickplate (near steering column)?
5. is there any other cause of horn failure I should know about?
6. what would you guess the cost of fixing (at a shop) the three possible problems?

Horn relay and fuse are under the hood in the fuse block on the driver side.

you wouldn't happen to be able to elaborate more on which fuse and relay go to the horn would you? and, possibly, what contacts on the relay slot I should short to get the horn to sound? I don't have the manual. if anyone has an electronic copy of the repair manual, I would really appreciate it (PM me)

now that I think about it, there is probably a "schematic" on the side of the relay, so I can probably figure out what one to short.

does anyone know how to access the horn? I can see it from the top behind the headlight, but I can't get at it.

ok, I have worked out that I have to remove the splash panel to get at the horn(I think). I am still not sure if there is only one horn, or if there are two (both located in the same place?). is it a 10mm socket to get that panel off? or what?
