Default Wide rubber on stockers?

Just wondering if anyone knows off hand what the widest rubber could be to place on my 17x9 rims? I have 275's now, can I go wider? Just wondering.

295 is the biggest you should go, I know people run 315 nitto's but you shouldn't because it is too much tire for a stock rim because it will fit but it will be proper...

They are not safe. They should be on an 11" rim.

BS how are they not safe? cause nitto recommends it...Does GM recommend grinding our calipers to clear 15" wheels. I have been working with tires for over 3 years and it is not unsafe, they will just wear irregularly.

I would not recommend putting 315's on a stock rim. This thread reminds me of another one on SVTPerf.

OP:Would you like me to take you a picture of 11 inch wide tires compared to the stock rim to give you an idea of why it is a bad idea?

275 is the widest you can safely put on a 9" wheel. There are TWO sticky's on the top that explain your question.

fordeater - Nitto does not recommend it.
