CD Changer, even if you don't have the CD changer in the back it is still wired for one.

actually, I think they did, I looked up some 1995 trans am's on ebay and both of the ones I found had steering wheels controls.
I know my 02 Z28 has one wire for the steering wheel controls (parts of the stereo harness) and a harness for the CD changer, maybe the 95s are different.

Steering wheel controls were available on all 93-02's.. my 95 has them as well. It was only an option on the earlier models, but appears it became standard towards the end of later models.

Wrong! Steering wheel controls are a single wire in the main stereo harness just like on later models.

Without seeing the wires in question, I can only guess. But the CD changer is the most likely.

The factory head unit has two 10-pin connectors (white and black) that snap together to form a single 20-pin plug. That is the main harness containing power, ground, speakers, steering wheel controls, etc.

Then there's the antenna cable but I'm sure everyone knows what that looks like.

Finally, there's the CD Changer / Auxiliary harness. It is a black 9-pin plug that is easily recognized because one of the wires is uninsulated (bare).

Some models had a chasis ground wire that bolted to the case but didn't have a connector.
