Default Oil Pressure problem

OK. So when I was on my way to the auto show yesterday, I was sitting in traffic. Car was idling, in gear, and the oil pressure was about 20-22 psi. When I got moving again, is slowly built back up to 38-40 psi. Now, the car had been running for a good hour and a half at that point. I say this cause when we left the auto show and drove to union station and after we left the hockey game, the pressure stayed at the 38-40 psi no matter if I was cruising or sitting still. Help? Oil pump going bad?

change your oil pressure sending unit, oil and filter and see if it fixes it, if not then probably bad oil pump.

Your car was running for an hour and a half... the oil was hot and thin, making your oil pressure seem low. As soon as it cooled down, the oil got thicker again, making your oil pressure read higher. I doubt there's anything wrong with it.

Like have to pull IM to do it. Easy for some a PIA for others . BTW on the back of the DS head... Get a special plastic socket for it at AA, AZ etc.... It will help. But they usually read 0 or fluctuate real bad when they crap so I dunno........

pulling the sending unit is ******* easy.
unhook the wire connected to it, put the special socket on it and take it off, thread in the new one by hand, socket on and screw it on nice and snug, reconnect the wire. done.

Default it is a problem

my buddys did the same thing. i put a pick up tube and seal in it, still low pressure. i bet money its a pump. how many miles? my 01 z28 has 130k miles and stock pump and NEVER runs less than 40, and i WOT it daily everychance i get. check pressure with a oil pressure tool, if ur gauge is right put a pump in it.
